Kan jag göra

Namn: Audrey Swan
Ålder: 16

Personlighet: Kan uppfattas som dryg och sarkastiskt, men är i själva verket trevlig och schysst mot de hon känner.

Elevhem: Gryffindor
Patronus: Varg
Övrigt: Jagare i Gryffindors Quidditchlag

Nä, det tror jag inte

Namn: Noel McFlynn

---

Audrey opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling for a while. She had no problem with waking up early in the mornings, but it was harder on weekdays. She lied in her bed, staring at the spots in the ceiling before she sat up. There were five beds in the room, and three of them had sleeping girls in them at the moment. Audrey yawned and put her bare feet on the cold floor. She took her clothes and went into the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror before she put up her long, blonde hair in a ponytail. She put on her uniform and tied her tie. She put some makeup around the deep blue eyes and looked at herself in the mirror with a smile. She put on her shoes, flung her schoolbag over her shoulder.

When she came to the common room, she discovered that it was nearly empty. She went out the portrait and worked her way down the many stairs which led down from the Gryffindor Tower. When she arrived at the Entrance Hall, she felt a pair of hands covering her eyes.
“Guess who” a voice said, and Audrey sniggered.
“You’re kind of destroying the game with the talking, Eric” she said and the hands were removed from her eyes. She turned around and met the brown eyes which belonged to Eric, her best friend. He smiled.
“Have you heard about the new school project? “Friends across the Houses”” he asked and Audrey nodded.
“Yeah, apparently we’ll get assigned a buddy who we have to hang out with and go to classes together. Which means we’ll have to be in the same year, which makes you a candidate to be my buddy” she said and punched him on his arm. He laughed and shook his head.
“I hope not” he said jokingly and they went in the Great Hall together. They were separated, since Eric went to the Ravenclaw table. Audrey went to the Gryffindor table and sat down.

She wondered how this project would go down, and she hoped that she would get assigned a fun person. She really thought this project was ridiculous, but it was an attempt from the school to get the students to get to know people from other Houses. Yes, there were a lot of prejudices among the different Houses, and it needed to change. At least between Gryffindor and Slytherin, which had the most House-based prejudices and fights.

Noel McFlynn had, unlike Audrey, a very hard time to get up in the morning. He hated mornings. Who came up with the idea of mornings?
If it hadn't been for Klaus, Noel's "best" friend (they considered each other as best friends, but that was more because they didn't have any other friends than that they actually liked each other that much) he would never attend any lessons in the morning. Klaus was a person that really enjoyed every part of life. Especially mornings. Noel always thought that Klaus had some type of problem, but he didn't ask. He didn't want to lose his only friend.

Klaus made Noel get out of bed. Unwilling to start a new discussion, Noel got out of bed. He put on his uniform. He didn't change in the bathroom. Come on, he had known these boys for six years! It wasn't a big deal. At least not for him. He tied his green and silver tie and checked himself out in the mirror. He looked... Average. The brown hair looked terrible, as always, but he didn't mind it. It was school, not Top Model, for Christ's sake!

Klaus and Noel went out to the common room together. They talked to a couple of third graders before they continued their route to breakfast. BREAKFAST was the most important meal of the day, according to Klaus. (The importance of breakfast couldn't come through in non-capital letters. Ask Klaus.)

"You've heard of the "Friends across the Houses" project?" Klaus asked after a while. Noel looked at Klaus with confusion in his eyes. He shook his head.
"Jesus. It's a project. You'll be assigned a friend", Klaus started. "And you'll have to hang out with that friend. To class and stuff." Noel had never heard of a dumber idea. What was the problem with Hogwarts? He didn't want friends. Couldn't they just let him be? After a while the boys arrived at the Slytherin table. They sat down and Klaus continued to talk with Noel and Noel continued to nod. He couldn't get this project thing out of his head. He hoped that he would be excluded from the project. He would even pray to Merlin if he had to.

Audrey was halfway through her breakfast when Dumbledore stood up. He coughed, and it didn’t take more. The Great Hall fell silent. He smiled towards them all, and opened his mouth.
“Students, it’s time to create friendship between us all, not only within the House alone. This is why, as you all know, we have created the project named “Friends across the Houses”. We’ve paired you randomly, and you will attend classes and leisure activities with this person. The lists are up in the Entrance Hall, and I suggest you find your partner as soon as breakfast is over. Good Luck”. The students applauded as he sat down again. Audrey sighed and returned to her food. She truly hoped that Eric would be her partner. The odds weren’t big, but they existed at least.

Audrey finished her breakfast and looked around. Not many students had gone out in the Entrance Hall, and Audrey got a feeling that everyone dragged their feet for a reason: No one really liked this project. Forced to socialize wasn’t the best solution to create peace between the Houses. She truly hoped she ended up with a person who had similar interests as herself. She looked over at the Slytherin table. She really didn’t want to hang out with a Slytherin student for two weeks, because they were often very proud and annoying. At least the few she had encountered during her years at Hogwarts.

Audrey put down her utensils and stood up. Time to find out how her next two weeks were going to be like. She crossed her fingers as she went to the Entrance Hall. She walked up to the pieces of paper that were put up on the wall, as she saw Eric.
“Tell me the good news” she said to him, and he shook his head.
“Sorry, darling” he said and Audrey sighed. She looked at the Gryffindor section and looked for her last name. She found “Swan”, and it said “Noel McFlynn, Slytherin” next to it. She sighed. Of course. She had heard rumours about this Noel guy, that he was a proud know-it-all with no friends. She turned around, and saw Eric laugh with his partner, a guy from Hufflepuff. Was it possible to change partners? Audrey shook her head and swallowed. She had to at least try. She decided to give this guy five minutes to impress her, and after that she would decide. As long as he didn’t interrupt her Quidditch practice it would be okay.

Noels favorite thing about Dumbledore was that he could make Klaus shut up. It was very impressive, because Klaus was rarely quiet. Noel hoped that Dumbledore would, at some point, say that "Noel McFlynn doesn't have to participate in this project." Obviously, Dumbledore never said it.

Noel finished his breakfast at least ten minutes before Klaus did. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, remember? Stupidity.
Not that Noel wanted to finish his breakfast. He didn't want to find out who his special "buddy" was. Jesus, he didn't even want to be awake. Could he go back to bed?

"Shall we?" Klaus asked with raised eyebrows. Noel shook his head.
"Nope." Klaus sighed. Noel always thought that it was weird that Klaus actually hung out with him. He was social and friendly and Noel was... not? A "yes" and "no" discussion begun and it all ended with Klaus literally dragging Noel to the Entrance Hall.

"If they paired me up with a Gryffindor I'm suing", Noel said right before he looked at the papers on the wall. As if Merlin really hated him, he found his name next to "Audrey Swan, Gryffindor." WHAT WERE THE ODDS? Klaus was paired up with a boy from Ravenclaw. Lucky him. Noel turned around and looked after his buddy. He knew who Swan was. She was on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, which made him hate her. He didn't know anything else about her. He wasn't really a person that listened to rumors and stuff. And people didn't talk to him about rumors, either.

Audrey had started a conversation with Eric and his partner, who apparently was named John. They were talking about the project and its purpose. Audrey was watching the students coming out of the Great Hall, she hadn’t seen Noel yet, and she wasn’t going to go look for him either. They were going to meet up eventually. She wondered how Noel was as a person. She had heard some stuff, but not much. She wondered if he was a proud pure-blood who wouldn’t stop talking about his bloodline and looking down on her for being a Muggleborn. She hoped not. Well, actually some part of her wished for it, because that gave her a reason to punch him in the nuts. She sniggered and Eric raised his eyebrows.
“Lost in thought again?” he asked and Audrey nodded and told him about her thought. He shook his head, and the Hufflepuff student swallowed a laugh.
“Give him a chance, Audrey” Eric said as he and John started to walk away.
“Yeah, yeah. I will. Maybe” she said and leaned against the wall, looking at the people searching for their partner. She noticed that not many of them looked very thrilled. Audrey wondered if the pairing wasn’t as “random” as Dumbledore had said. At least someone should have ended up with someone they knew, but Audrey was sure the teachers had prevented that from happening. So much for random pairing.

Audrey yawned and sat down on the banister and crossed her legs. She looked over the crowd which got thinner and thinner for every minute. How late was this guy? She rolled her eyes and saw a guy she though was Noel, and he read the paper. He didn’t look very happy. Audrey sighed again and waited for him to come to her, she wasn’t going to chase him. She thought about Noel for a second, wasn’t he a Prefect? She wasn’t sure, but if that was the case this project would suck even more.

Of course Noel was a Prefect. He was a Good Boy™. (No he wasn't. He was a terrible boy. But he was a Prefect.) He looked around him for a while until his eyes got stuck on a blonde Gryffindor who sat on the banister. The fact that she sat on the banister made him roll his eyes and sigh. (Typical Prefect reaction.) Couldn't she, like, stand? Everyone else stood up! "Young legs are supposed to stand up" was probably Noel's trademark line.

At first he thought that he would let her walk up to him, but it felt awkward, considering that he had already seen her. So he walked up to her, with tired and slow steps. He was not going to rush up to her. Not because he was trying to act "cool". He didn't want to rush up to her because he was simply Noel. (Grumpy, slow, and quiet Noel, as some second grader said once. Noel could not do anything else than agree.)

"I'm Noel McFlynn", he said and reached out his hand in front of her. "I would say that it's a pleasure to meet you, but a) we've already met before and b) it's not a pleasure." Oh, yeah. Noel didn't have any type of filter.

Audrey watched him walk over to her, and listened to what he said. She looked at him and sniggered.
“Well, I can agree with option B, but I don’t call never speaking to each other in class as meeting” she said, and took his hand.
“Audrey, but I guess you already figured it out since you, apparently, can read and put two and two together” she said and nodded towards the papers on the wall. She let go of his hand and jumped off the banister. She glanced at him and realized she had been right; he was a Prefect. Luckily, she didn’t have to hang out with him during the nights when she had her nightly walks in the castle.

She looked down at her watch.
“Since you’re a Prefect, you should know more about this project. How does it work between classes? Do we have to endure each other’s presence during that time, too?” she asked. She already knew the answer, but it might change if she asked the question, she hoped. She didn’t need the five minutes to know that he was annoying, and she had to endure his company for many days to come. Even the weekends, apparently. What had she done to deserve this? Well, a lot if she thought about it. Not that she ever got discovered, but breaking rules was one of the things Audrey loved the most. She guessed that Prefect-boy in front of her had never broken a rule, not even crossing a line with so much of a toe. She leaned against the banister and corrected her tie, which was a bit loose. She liked looking neat, which really didn’t match her personality. She looked at Noel again, waiting for a response.
