He did regret coming there, though. He felt awkward, like he didn't belong there. Which he didn't. Someone started talking to Audrey and he felt stupid just standing there next to her. She introduced them to each other but Noel got a strong feeling that this Michael did not give a rat's ass about who he was.
"So", he turned to look at Audrey, who sipped on a butterbeer. "What do you do at parties?" He was socially incompetent, 100%.

“Well, drink, play games, and dance” Audrey said, and started to move with the music. She finished her butterbeer and put it on a table. She swirled and kept moving her hips with the music.
“You should try, it’s fun” she said and smiled. She didn’t even make a joke about him not being fun, she didn’t want to ruin the evening, or the party for that matter. She swirled again and put her hands up in the air, not caring about anyone or anything. She loved it, getting lost in the music and having all her problems fade away for a while.

He wouldn't dance. Never, ever. He would look stupid and silly. He stood there, watching Audrey. At least she looked like she was having a good time.
Parties, Noel decided, was not for him. Could he possibly leave without anyone noticing? He shook his head for himself. He probably couldn't. He continued with looking at her for a while, before starting to think of how awkward he must've looked, so then he took a butterbeer and sipped on it. He had promised his mom not to drink butterbeer anywhere else than home, but screw it. She would never find out.

Audrey was so into her dancing, that she didn’t notice anything around her. This was one of her ways of getting away from the everyday, and to clear her mind. She loved it, and she was good at it.

A guy came up to Noel, another Slytherin student named Sean. He grinned.
“I’ve understood that you’re paired with scar face over there” he said and nodded towards the dancing Audrey.
“I’ve heard she’s a real prick, and that she’s a Muggleborn as well” he said and shook his head.

Noel took a sip from his butterbeer before Sean, a guy in Slytherin, came up to him. He had only spoken to him briefly before and didn't really know what to think of him. Well, the two boys seemed to share a dislike of Audrey. But it didn't feel right to talk about her like that. "Scar face"?
"She can be pretty difficult", he said, shrugging. "She's a Muggleborn, really?" He hadn't even thought about that earlier. Not that it really mattered to him, he never cared a lot about blood purity and stuff. But still, she was different from him. In more ways than he thought from the beginning.

Audrey let the music pulse through the floor, up her feet and through her entire body. She opened her eyes again, but didn’t care for the other people, it was just her, her mind and the music right now, in a wonderful swirl.

Sean shrugged.
“Yeah, a really dirty one. I guess that’s why she’s so messed up. I guess Muggle parents do that to their kids” he said and sniggered. He looked at Audrey with disgust in his eyes.
“Difficult, eh? I’ve heard much worse” he said and laughed.

Noel looked at Sean with confusion in his eyes. What was he talking about? Surely Audrey couldn't be that bad. Sure, she sucked, but not as much as Sean made it sound.
"What do you mean?" he asked. "Much worse?"

Sean laughed.
“I’ve heard she got that nasty scar from burning down her muggle school, so be careful, she is batshit crazy” he said, took a sip from his butterbeer and disappeared.

Audrey finally stopped, and turned around. She took her second butterbeer and sipped on it. She walked up to Noel.
“So, is Mr Prefect having fun yet?” she joked and winked at him. She took another sip of the butterbeer. Even though it was very little alcohol in the butterbeers, it could still affect Audrey a little after a few. She wasn’t there yet, but they were so damn good.

What? No, that couldn't be true. Why would she burn down her school? Sure, she didn't like school, so it wasn't completely out of character for her. Well, Sean disappeared before Noel got the chance to say anything and right after that Audrey walked up to him.
"I don't know", he said and shrugged, still thinking about Sean. He didn't know if he should've told her about it or not. Would she get upset? Probably.

“You look like you have something on your mind” Audrey said and looked at Noel. She was sure he would say something about how boring this was and that he wanted to go to the Slytherin common room and iron his uniform or something. She sighed. Well, he had at least tried to come to the party, so she had to make sacrifices for him. Not that she wanted to, especially not after him taking points from her for “Being a bitch”. She hadn’t quite gotten over it, she had no problem with being called a bitch. It just hurt that she had been punished for being herself. She took another sip of her butterbeer.
“It’s good, right?” she said and smiled.
