His heart started to beat to fast. Was he going to get expelled? He followed her inside and nodded at McGonagall. Audrey quickly sat down; although Noel didn’t. He wanted to stand so that he could run away as quickly as possible. (Not that he was going to run away. Right?) He stood behind Audrey’s chair and rested his hands on her shoulders, hoping that his touch wouldn’t annoy her.
“Uh, y-“ he begun, his voice becoming really shaky and nervous. He could literally head his heart beating in his chest. “Yes, professor.”

Audrey flinched when Noel touched her shoulders. She wasn’t prepared for that. Could the guy make up his mind already? He was really confusing her. One second, they were cute, and he seemed to enjoy her company, and the next he was repulsed by her. She didn’t like the inconsistency.

McGonagall nodded after a few seconds of silence.
“Well, I know that Madam Pomfrey has a potion that will-“. She was interrupted by Audrey.
“No, I’m keeping it” she said and McGonagall raised an eyebrow (mostly because Audrey had interrupted her). She cleared her throat.
“Well, if that is your decision, there is nothing I can do. I need to write to your pare- sorry, your legal guardian and tell her what have happened, since you are still underage. I also recommend going to Madam Pomfrey as soon as possible” she said, and Audrey nodded.
“So… I’m not expelled?” she asked quietly and McGonagall looked confused.
“Expelled? We don’t expel our students for getting pregnant, especially not since you’re over 15 and are allowed sexual interactions. You just need to take responsible for your actions, and that goes for both of you” she said, looking at both Audrey and Noel. She stood up, and so did Audrey.
“I’ll be in touch with you” she said, looking at Audrey, and she swore that McGonagall gave her a little smile. Audrey turned around and went out to the corridor. She leaned towards the wall and breathed deeply. She wasn’t going to get expelled.

Noel kept quiet during the conversation. He felt as he didn’t have any right to comment on it, even though he was the dad. Unlike Audrey, Noel received an angry glance from McGonagall as they left. He really was the bad guy in the situation. He usually didn’t care about being the bad guy; but now it bothered him, because he was worse than usually.
“Well”, he said, not sure how to continue. “McGonagall’s cool.” He guessed that Snape wouldn’t be that calm about it, though.

Audrey looked down at her stomach, putting her hands on it. She nodded.
“Yeah, she was much cooler than I had expected” she said and smiled. She moved her hands up and down her stomach, and she actually felt happy. Happier than she had felt in years. Suddenly, the happiness turned to worry again. She had thought about her parents again. She swallowed hard and sat down on the floor. She bit her lip and leaned her head towards the wall.
“Is this going in your weekly letter to your parents?” she teased, smiled and looked up at Noel. She had to push the worry away, which she only could do by joking, as usual.

It probably wouldn’t turn up in the letter. Noel wasn’t dumb - he knew that he had to tell them soon, but he wanted to wait with it for as long as he could.
“You know”, he begun, being way more serious than Audrey. “My uh- my mom got pregnant at 16.” What was up with the sudden honesty? Would Audrey even care about it? To be honest, why would she?
“I- I’ll probably wait with telling her”, he continued, sitting down on the floor, leaning his back against the wall. “Just a short while. If that’s okay, of course.”

Audrey looked down at the floor, starting to get sad again. She wanted the happy feeling to come back. She looked up at Noel when he spoke.
“Really? She was?” she asked and looked surprised at him. That’s why she had seemed so young when they looked at the pictures. Audrey bit her lip. At least Noel had someone to support him when he eventually told her. Audrey had no one, except Eric maybe. Eric or not, Audrey had no one to talk to that would understand what she was going through. She couldn’t talk to Noel either, since he didn’t want the baby. She guessed that the moment the project was over, he wouldn’t acknowledge her again. She tried not to think about that yet.
“Sure, wait as long as you want. Has she told you anything about her experience?” she asked curiously, looking at him.

He nodded for an answer. Usually, he was ashamed over it - but not around Audrey anymore. She was in the same seat as his mother had been, so she couldn’t judge her.
“Nah, never”, he answered. His mom was probably ashamed of it herself and never said anything about it. “But dad told me that she got expelled, which is why she’s know a housewife.” He knew that his mom had great plans for her future, and it sucked to be the reason to why she couldn’t become any of it.

Audrey shook her head.
“That’s insane. How could she get expelled? And if she had to get expelled, why not your dad, too? He was as responsible for what happened as her” she said and felt annoyed. How could someone get their future destroyed only because she wanted to keep the living baby growing in her stomach? Audrey didn’t get it. She sighed.
“How do you think your parents are going to react?” she asked with a little smile.

“Uh, he was nineteen”, he answered shortly. “But he was great to her, really.” He didn’t want to go further into it, not because he was ashamed, but more because it didn’t feel like his thing to tell. It was his parents thing to tell, really.
“Disappointed”, he said and shrugged briefly. ”I knew what could happen but I didn’t even think anything of it..” He looked away from her. He couldn’t. He had been so stupid, taking way too much for granted.

Audrey shrugged.
“Well, I was on the pills, so it shouldn’t have happened. At least the odds were against it, but then again, the pills are only 98% safe. We did as much as we could have” she said and shook her head. It was pretty amazing when she thought about it, two percent’s chance of getting pregnant, and it had happened. She put her hands on her stomach again.
“I hope you won’t mess up your relationship with your parents because of this” she said and looked at her feet.
