Together they put the last pole in the ground, and the fabric was also pretty easy to hang up when they cooperated. Finally, the tent was finished. When Alison looked inside, it was as if the magic had kicked in. It was a very small tent, with only one bedroom with two beds and a tiny, tiny kitchen and a tiny “living room”. At least they were going to have a roof over their heads. Alison looked around in the little kitchen; nothing.
“We have to find water, and food” she said and opened the cabinets, which were empty. She wasn’t very happy with the sleeping arrangements, and she hoped that Troye didn’t snore. She usually talked in her sleep, and she hoped that wouldn’t happen during these days.

Thankfully, the fabric went faster to hang up than the poles. The tent looked like a tent; cheap, dirty, muggle-like. It wasn’t Troye’s taste at all. He kind of hated it. The inside, however, was more okay. Sure, it was probably smaller than his own bedroom, but at least it didn’t really look like a tent. The professors had even given them beds, so they weren’t complete dicks!
“How do you even do that without a wand?” he asked, without realizing that he sounded dumb. Hell, his fingers itched after his wand; with it, this task would’ve been so easy.

Alison smiled, with her back still turned towards Troye. He was completely lost when it came to work without any magic.
“Well”, she said while turning towards him, “you can hunt or fish using a knife, but it’s kind of tricky. I’ve never done it practically, only read about it. Picking berries and other greens and making soup out of them, that’s probably the easiest way to make food. Water, I guess the teachers have put up some sort of well or stream with fresh water, and we have to carry it with the buckets” she said and kicked one of the buckets on the kitchen floor lightly with her left foot.
"Maybe this is good for all of us, working without magic, to feel how it is for other, non-magic people" she said and picked up one of the buckets.

How could she see anything positive with being without their magic? It was horrible - he needed the magic. He was like an addict, but could anyone blame him? He’d never lived without magic, ever!
“I don’t even know how to cook”, he muttered, going through his backpack, picking up the knife. He wasn’t going to pick berries - that would be too girly. Besides, how hard could it be? “Couldn’t they have packed down an elf?” His eyes fixated on the blade for a while before looking over at Alison, who had picked up one of the buckets.

Alison laughed (she actually did laugh, for real).
“Well, if they had packed an elf, it hadn’t been much of a competition, had it?” she said and smiled.
“Lucky, I know how to cook, and I’ll even be nice and not poison your portion” she said and grinned. Alison was actuatlly pretty good at cooking food, but she hadn’t done it with the ingredients of nature before, but it would be instructive to do so.
“So, let’s go and find some water and food, then” she said and headed out from the tent.

Troye didn’t even care if it was a competition anymore. He had thought that the tasks would involve dragons, boggarts; hell, just any kind of magic! He did not imagine any muggle-like tasks, and he didn’t get the point of it either. He attended a school that taught magic; so the tasks should’ve tested him on his skills, shouldn’t they?
“I can’t trust you about that”, he said, sounding as he was joking but actually being serious. He didn’t go further into his argument though, as he didn’t want to start another fight. Not then. Maybe the next day, possibly. He let her leave the tent before him and walked out after her.
Troye wasn’t a person who loved to spend time in the woods; his mother didn’t even let him do it when he was younger (unsanitary), so he barely even knew what animals could be found there. Sure, the forbidden forest had some special animals which he knew of, but there had to be some normal ones as well, right. He looked around and tried to spot anything that looked like an animal. Zero. Nada.
“There’s no food here”, he complained, considering going back to the tent. Alison could fix the water and pick some berries, couldn’t she? She even seemed to enjoy the task!

Alison looked around in the forest. She enjoyed the outdoors, even if she hadn’t had much experience living in the forest before. Apparantly, Troye didn’t enjoy it as much; he complained and was a pain.
“Well, the teachers wouldn’t starve us, would they?” she said and gesticulated towards a bush.
“Blackberries, they’re edible” she said and picked one and put it in her mouth. She looked over at Troye.
“Water is probably our biggest question right now, however” she said and tried to look around for any signs of water. She walked up to a tree and looked up at it. She turned to Troye.
“Any good climber? I bet we could see a water source from the top” she said and looked up the tree again.

Berries? He didn’t eat berries. He needed his protein; his meat! (Besides. Troye wasn’t too sure that the professors wouldn’t starve them.)
“This sucks”, he complained, once again, as he took a leaf from one of the trees around them. He didn’t follow Alison, but he kept his eyes on her. He wouldn’t admit it, but if he lost her in the woods, he’d be dead. He wasn’t the camper out of the two! He was the magician!
“I’m an amazing climber”, he answered, great confidence in his voice. He actually was. (For once.) He walked up to the same free as her and looked at it. It was a good climbing-tree, actually. The branches weren’t to far away from each other and they looked quite steady. He grabbed the first branch and pulled himself up in the tree, continuing to climb a little further up before looking down at Alison.
“Aren’t you going to climb?” he asked, letting his gaze go up in the tree; the top was still some meters away.

Alison watched him climb. When he looked down at him she smiled.
“Of course I am, I just needed to check if the tree’s branches were steady and intact before climbing there myself” she said and grinned. She grabbed a branch and pushed herself up on it. She followed Troyes steps (slower, though). Climbing wasn’t her strongest side at all, she was more of a fast person instead, the reason she was a Seeker. She hadn’t climbed much in her life, but luckily she could just imitate Troye. She looked down, they had gotten quite far up in the tree. She wondered what would happen if they fell down; were the professors somehow watching them? She decided not to think about it. She decided to keep her gaze up, and not down.
“Do you see anything?” she said, since Troye was higher up than she was. Hopefully she didn’t have to climb any further, but she didn’t want Troye to know that.

Alison was funny. Kind of. Not that he’d ever admit it, though. She’d probably just become even more full of herself if he admitted it. (He was the one that was full of oneself. He wouldn’t admit that either.) He looked down at her and when he saw that she began to climb he continued pulling himself up with the help of the branches.
“Nope, not yet”, he answered, looking further up into the tree. “There’s too much branches and leaves in the way, I think we have to go up to the top to see anything.” He stopped for a while, his hand searching for a steady branch to hold onto.
