Noel should've known more about the project. He really should. Sadly, he only listened to things that interested him, which is why he completely missed it when professor Snape talked to him and the other Prefect about it.
"Well. I believe so", he answered. "Anyway. I will not accept any kind of rule breaking or anything else that you Gryffindors do." Unaware of how boring he just sounded he looked around him a little, desperately looking after Klaus. Hell, he never thought that he would be desperate to talk to that boy. But Merlin, he was. So desperate.

He looked back at her and noticed that she corrected her tie, which surprised him. A Gryffindor, looking neat? He had never heard of such a thing before (that was a lie, he actually had. But whatever...) His green-blue eyes couldn't look at her for too long. Well, even though he was Noel, he was still a teenage boy. He hated being a teenage boy, the hormones made him feel... Less like himself. Almost like the hormones made him human. He didn't want to be human, he wanted to be Noel. And he didn't want to be attracted to girls. Or anyone, for that matter.

Audrey shook her head and smacked her mouth.
“Well, well. You of all people should know why we’re doing this project, to eliminate prejudices like the one you just talked about. Not all Gryffindors are rule breakers” she said and sniggered. She was one of them, of course, but he didn’t need to know that.

She glanced at her watch again. Only 11 hours until she could blame it on bedtime and flee from his company. What did even Prefects do during their leisure time? Probably sitting around with their nose in a book. Not that Audrey didn’t like books, and she was very good in school, but that didn’t mean that she studied more than she needed. She scratched the right side of her neck. There was a scar stretched out above her shirt collar and it stretched for a few centimetres up. She was annoyed that the shirt didn’t cover it all, but she had gotten used to it. She let her hand fall to her side again.

She looked at Noel.
“So, there’s an hour before our class” she said, and was annoyed by how much of an information booklet she sounded like. As if he didn’t know when class started. She was sure Noel had tattooed in his schedule on his arm if he could. She gave him a little smile.
“I really want to go flying, do you want to watch me fly or fly yourself?” she asked, and looked at him.

As if he could read Audreys mind, Noel thought that she sounded a lot like an information booklet. Which annoyed him. He obviously knew when the next class started. He knew when every class started, for Christ's sake. In the beginning of the school year he even took the time to learn the first graders schedule. The poor little souls were so lost.

He paid attention to her scar and was just going to ask about it when she started talking again. She was almost like Klaus (lie. She was like 1% of Klaus) because she talked so much.
The smile she gave him caused quite some confusion in his head. He had assumed that she didn't like him (mostly because he didn't like her) and couldn't come up with one single good reason for why she would smile at him.
"I'd rather not fly", he answered, looking back at her. Not for too long, though. His cheeks would turn pink if he did (he knew this from experience.) "But I suppose that I could watch you."

“Well, you don’t really have a choice, do you? We have to be together” she said and sniggered. She walked out the Entrance door and out in the schoolyard, assuming Noel was going to walk with her. Okay, so right now this ting wasn’t that bad, she got to do what she liked, even though it was annoying to have someone watch her every move. Not that he probably cared about what she was doing (unless it was breaking the rules, he was a Prefect after all); but it was still annoying for her. She didn’t like to be tied down like this, she liked being spontaneous which didn’t work out quite as well with another person and his opinions around.

She thought about her new stalker, and considering starting to ask questions to get to know the guy. They were stuck with each other, after all. However, she didn’t know where to begin. She already knew what grade he was in, and that he was a Prefect. Why would she even ask him personal questions? It wasn’t like they were going to stay friends after this project. No matter how much Dumbledore probably wanted them all to. She cleared her throat.
“So, whose idea was this project anyway? I guess you and the Prefects have you little secret meetings, and this thing was discussed?” she asked, and turned her head towards Noel as she walked. She looked around the schoolyard, which was big. The weather was beautiful, and the sun was warm considering it was the end of September.

Noel followed her and tried to keep up with her pace. Not that she walked that fast, it was just that he was like a snail. Literally. He didn't mind following her. Of course he would enjoy to spend some time in the library - or even talk to Klaus, more. But this was fine. Some fresh air couldn't hurt him.

"I don't go to most of the meetings", he confessed. He didn't see the point. He only had to meet Snape like, once a month. Anything else than that wasn't mandatory. "And Snape didn't say anything about it."
Noel wasn't usually out in the schoolyard. Once in a while he went out to run a little bit, or just sat in one of the trees and listened to Klaus. Even though it was warm considering the month, it was still cold. The school yard started to suck real hard. Why couldn't they cast a spell that made it warm?
"You're on the Quidditch team, right?" he asked, and was actually interested. He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked at her. He realised that it was easier to look at the back of her head. He made a mental note in his head about that.

Audrey raised her eyebrows.
“Didn’t think Prefects could ever skip an important meeting” she sniggered and kept going. She nodded.
“Yeah, I’m a Chaser. Been since my second year” she said. She had loved Quidditch since she had discovered the game. She had never seen anything like it in the Muggle World, probably because they didn’t ride broomsticks there. She had tried out for the Chaser position during her second year, and realized that she was really good. She had gotten a spot in the team and had played ever since. Usually she was the one making most goals of the Gryffindor players, a record she intended of keeping.

She looked back at Noel again.
“You’re not much of a flyer, are you?” she asked and smiled. There was a certain look of the people who liked to fly. The look of risk-taking and adrenaline rushes. It was always a risk of flying, and playing Quidditch. Audrey had been badly hurt once during a game, in her third year. She had collided with another player, and fallen of her broomstick. She had landed hard on the ground, since she fell from a few meters height. She hadn’t woken up for two weeks. When she finally woke up, she was up in the air again the same day she was allowed to leave the hospital wing. Adrenaline rush and risk-taking was clearly her thing.

Noel didn't know any of the positions in Quidditch except for seeker. He didn't ask Audrey what she did on the field (in the air?), he would've felt stupid. He looked down at the ground as they continued walking. He only looked back up again when she said something more.
"Nope", he said and shook his head. "I'm on the schools Gobstone team, actually." The sport wasn't very popular at the school or for people over 12 at all. People usually enjoyed it when they were young and then they went on to quidditch. Not Noel, though.

"What's up with the scar, by the way?" he added before she had a chance to comment his Gobstone-interest. He didn't know why, but the scar he had seen before just popped up in his head. He wasn't interested in Audrey or anything about her at all, he was simply just trying to not make it awkward. At least that was what he told himself. But since when did he try to keep things from getting awkward? He enjoyed awkward. Awkward situations made people leave.

Audrey laughed.
“Gobstones? Really? How is it, competing with eleven year olds?” she said and looked back at him. She knew it wasn’t fair, he couldn’t help that his hobby was a sport for children. Audrey had only played once, and she didn’t like it.
“I guess you’re pretty good, since you’re still playing it” she said and smiled. She didn’t mean to sound mean (well, she actually did), it just happened to sound that way. She couldn’t help to make fun of people when an opportunity came by, she just couldn’t.

She listened to his second question, and abruptly stopped walking. Her hand sprang to her neck, and touched it. She began to walk again, and cleared her throat. No one had ever asked her that question, especially not after not even half an hour together. Now she got even more annoyed with the guy. He probably tried to mess with her, but she wouldn’t let him. He was a Prefect, but she was a lion.
“You’re not very good with small talk, are you?” she said coldly and let her hand fall down.
“It’s not your business, but you should see the other girl” she continued. She sounded dead serious, and she hoped that Noel didn’t notice that she, in fact, was really insecure.

Noel's face turned a bit pink when she laughed at his Gobstone-interest. Usually, people didn't laugh at him. Sure, it happened, but not often. He never talked to people outside of Slytherin (except for some Ravenclaws in the library) and the Slytherins actually treated him with respect. That could be because he was a Prefect, but he does like to remember that he was treated with respect even before that. At least he wasn't bullied, that's something.

"Merlin", he sighed. "It was just a question." He ignored her comment about "the other girl", simply because he didn't give a damn about violence. Uh, cliché, right? The Prefect doesn't like violence. He couldn't help it though. His parents probably raised him in a way that would make him a perfect Prefect.

She ignored his statement about “only a question”. She thought about a few comebacks, but then remembered that he actually could take points from Gryffindor and give out detention. Not that she cared, it would probably be worth it. She stopped again.
“You know what? I don’t feel like flying anymore” she said and turned around to look at him. She looked at her watch.
“I don’t have time anyway, we start in 45 minutes, and I’m guessing Mr Prefect don’t want to be late” she said and sniggered. She wondered how he got so stiff, and boring, as he seemed to be. Was it genes? Or did his parents decide to raise a boring child? Audrey decided not to ask that question, but at the same time she really wanted to see how far she could go before he snapped. She also wondered what would happen when he did. She loved trying to see how far she could go with things, again probably because of the adrenaline. She looked at him, and tried to figure him out. She knew that he was a prefect student, or at least so they said. How come he was a complete ass to her? Probably the same reason she made fun of him; neither one of them wanted to be in this situation. Unfortunately, they were, and there was nothing they could do to change it.
